Security

As companies store more information on computers systems, whether on the cloud or locally, it has become ever more important to make sure that your information is secure. There are laws governing how you must look after the data you have, and the equally important need to make sure that your business will not fall foul of being hacked.

iTEXS has been providing secure IT setups for nearly 20 years and can help you with a pragmatic approach to securing your data, whilst allowing you to benefit from the IT investments you have made. Whilst the information below is not exhaustive it provides some of the more common areas we help with.
Eset antivirus
Anti-Virus

iTEXS has teamed up with ESET to provide a comprehensive anti-virus tool. ESET has the longest unbroken run of VB100 awards for malware detection of any IT security vendor. They have been excelling at VB100 tests since May 1998. More than 13 Years of Consecutive VB100 Awards, an Industry record; the total number of Awards is over 100 as of march 2020.

ESET Antivirus provides essential defense against malware, built on ESET’s trademark best mix of detection, speed and usability. Explore the great online, securely protected by award-winning ESET NOD32 detection technology. It’s trusted by over 110 million users worldwide to detect and neutralize all types of digital threats, including viruses, rootkits, worms and spyware.

Good Working Practices

This is all about the day-to-day practices, such things as making sure all systems are protected with passwords, ensuring that software is up to date and that staff know what to look out for. Quite often these are quick fixes with big benefits covering some of the most common ways that your IT can be hacked. Also we can make sure that you have the appropriate equipment, so if for instance you need many staff to VPN in then you will need a router that can handle the security. We can also provide a regime for the installation of routine updates, patches and fixes to the relevant equipment (such as servers).
Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a specific way of protecting cloud systems, for instance setting this up for Microsoft 365 involves associating a mobile phone number with your 365 account; the phone will receive a code via text message when a correct username and password have been entered from a new computer or phone or tablet, so if someone gets hold of your username and password they will still not be able to log on to your account because they will not have the code as that will come to your mobile only.
Anti-Spam Email Filtering

Little is as annoying as when you get loads of unsolicited emails, but they can be the first part of an attempt to hack into your systems. Emails that ask to confirm details for any online accounts you have should be treated with the utmost caution, you should treat them as dangerous unless you are expecting the email or are able to confirm with who sent them that they are genuine. To help reduce this problem we can setup anti-spam filtering which uses a live database of potential threats that are stopped before they get to you, this can massively reduce the disruption to your day and the potential for something worse.
External Penetration Testing

One question often asked is “how secure are we” and to answer this we can arrange a test that looks for any vulnerabilities in your system, this produces a report and any issues can be worked on to either remove or mitigate them. The more parts of your IT systems that connect via the internet (VOIP phones, EPOS, databases, accounts systems etc) the more tunnels and ports are likely to be required to make those IT systems work, so making sure only the correct ones are open and secure is essential.

Cyber Essentials

As well as specific actions to improve your security there are also assessments, such as the Governments National Cyber Security Centre’s “Cyber Essentials” scheme, that will help you to protect your business. This is a self-assessment program that will take you through a series of logical steps to ask the correct questions and if required instigate corrective actions across your complete cyber systems.
