One way to speed up your PC is to reduce the amount of “Performance Options” that you have running, the fewer you have switched on the less work your PC needs to do - to access these options:
Windows 7
- Click on “Control Panel”
- Click on “Performance Information and Tools”
- Click on “Adjust Visual Effects”
Windows XP
- Click on “Control Panel”
- Click on “System”
- Click on “Advanced” tab
- Click on “Settings” button under “Performance”
You will then get the “Performance Options” Box shown on the right.
From here either switch the effects you can do without, or click on the “Adjust for best performance” option at the top of the window and it will all be done for you.
Click “Apply” at the bottom of the window
Click “OK” to finish
You can change these settings as often as you like, so if you want to experiment with what makes the most difference to your PC then go ahead!
